The Financial Accounting Intern position is based in the Corporate office located in Elk River, Minnesota, and will report to the Senior Accountant. The position will have visibility into each of the operating businesses and contact with the Executive management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial analysis of operating results and metrics in excel

  • Assist with monthly reporting and close process

  • Assist with analyst reporting on major customers and competitors

  • Review each company's internal control structure and adherence to policies and procedures

  • Internal audit procedures and communication to accounting team and divisional

  • Research new and emerging accounting standards and the impact to Cretex

  • Special projects as directed by Senior Accountant, Corporate Controller and Executive management

  • Special projects at Cretex operating manufacturing companies as directed by Senior Accountant and operating company Controllers

 Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Demonstrated MS Office software application skills

  • Foundation of accounting principles knowledge and auditing standards

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

 Minimum Experience/Education

  • Enrollment in a four year degree program for Accounting / Finance

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3

  • Prerequisite course work includes auditing, financial accounting, excel / advanced spreadsheets, managerial accounting, cost accounting

  • Previous accounting / finance work experience a plus 

Performance Measures

  • Effective communication with corporate finance team regarding work status

  • Ability to work independently as well as with corporate and operating company accounting staff

  • Take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion

  • Successfully completion of internal audit procedures and communication to Senior Accountant
